OMG! Has it been that long?

Wow I have been seriously slacking in the blogging department! Sorry :( I haven't really been in the mood to blog... Lame excuse I know!

I have been busy in the sewing department though :D

First up is the maxi dress fail!

I didn't do a FBA (because I'm scared of them!) so while it fits the dress form nicely its a bit exposing on me :/ I do however love the fabric :D Not sure what to do with it now...any Ideas?

Also I made Bubbles a Tutu thanks to This tutorial from Amanda at Kitschy Coo

She loves and it's pink ~shudder~ :p

Oh and another one from Amanda was the Reversible Hoodie. I was very lucky to have been chosen to test it in the 4T size.

I love this pattern! So easy to make up and it looks soooooo cool! The only problem is I now have to make one in Geekboy size :p

Thats it for now...Geekboy wants my Comp :( Not loving this whole sharing thing! :P

Friday 2 July 2010

Ahhh....I want them back now :(

My sewing machines have gone <sob> To be serviced! I haven't had them serviced in a very long time... But a whole week, Just seems so long. I have so many things I want to sew and my hand stitching is....not that good :(

I guess I'm knitting for a bit then.

Also need to update on all the things I have finished!

Not Pants Pants!

Ok so when Amanda from Kitschy Coo asked if anyone would be interested in testing her kids pant pattern I was just too cool to bounce on my computer chair squealing "Me, Me Oh please me!" (or not...but shhhh ;) ) Imagine my surprise when I checked my email and found the pdf, And it was Awesome! The instructions had big pictures so if your like me and don't have the patience to read all the words the pictures show you what to do!

This is what happens when you don't read important stuff like seam allowance! This all so caused a huge tantrum because Bubbles wanted to wear them to bed! She didn't care that they were cutting off the blood supply to her legs!

So while she was asleep I had another go. (or two)

She loved them! And Geekboy wanted in on the action too!

But what totally sold it to me was while Bubbles was watching TV...

Such a lady, I'm so proud!

So Geekboy wouldn't feel too left out I made him some new shorts!

How skinny is that boy!

See! I Have been busy :)

I have...honest!

I finished Claire's Corset,

and due to the serious amounts of arguing I made Bubbles beanbag,

It hasn't stopped the arguing though :(

Turns out I still had some spare time to make this,

It's not quite finished as I think I made it too big, but I wont know till Flame visits! :p

Who knows maybe I will get motivated to sort out my Sewing/dining room! Jas hates going in there!

or not! :p

Third time lucky!

Seriously! Thats how long it took me to "get" the T-shirt right! It kind of became a mission... I would not be defeated!

Before I show you my triumph, first the other disaster!

It doesn't look too bad...But it's just not quite right round the bust and armpits. I read Kid MD's blog on how she did a Full Bust Adjustment on her pattern, and I googled because I'd never heard of that before (can't you tell I'm self-taught :p )and that looked way to complicated and why didn't I just measure the front bust and the back separately, and extend the bust down to the actual bustline, then make the back separately! Clever huh! When it came to sewing it together the front was understandably longer, so I pleated it slightly! This turned out not so clever, and the armpit seam is too far back and above the bust is baggy :(

So on to attempt 3!

It Fits! It is comfortably, yes it shows my bulge bitts but what doesn't! And how, you maybe asking yourself, did I finally achieve this? I followed the instructions! I concluded that maybe, just maybe she knew better, (and I read her advice on the Design-it-Yourself Group on Flickr). And it worked, now I can make loads of T-Shirts :)

What did I learn from this? I learned that the people who write the books know more than me, and I learned that I'm not the only person who's boobs aren't up by their armpits, and I leaned that I need to lose some weight!

So... Till next time.

Do not disturb....

D'oh too late! :p

Every thing is in a not quite finished state! Claires Corset,

still needs the bone channels and bones put in and the edging finished.

My 2nd attempt at the sew-along T-shirt is also "not quite done!" But like the good old British Rail... I'm getting there :p

Give me something to Blog about!

So...I made the T-shirt for the Sew-along...and I will post pictures when I can get Jas to take them...but it didn't go so well! I'm slightly bigger than average in the bust area...(and the tummy!) But I'm not sure my bust-line has ever been on the same line as my armpits! So I tried to be clever (not a good look for me :p) I put the arm curve on my actual bust-line! Genius I thought! I made a bat wing top! :p
I found the sleeves weren't as scary as I thought they would be, and I made the back and front too low, I also didn't make it long enough to warrant the full hip width, so it looks like a curtsey. All in all It wasn't that bad and it is wearable...in the house :p

I'm sat here having told my kids that I would take them to Toy'r'Us and MacDonald, and I'm still waiting! Ty told me to go make myself a coffee!!!! Who are these kids??? I'm hungry :)

Why is it so hard to think of a title?

I figured it was time for a catch up...

Firstly a big YAY to Elena who won the corset!

I maybe should explain, My wonderful friend Siobhan had a Shabang in aid of Macmillan Cancer Research in loving memory of Malcom Ferguson, her late husband! Lots of bands and businesses and friends donated something towards this worthy cause and in doing so Siobhan has so far raised over £900! See I told you she was Wonderful!!

Also I have been pattern shopping :)

I have 2 big bags of beans in my one and only storagey space so I HAD to buy this pattern so now Geekboy has this

Unfortunatly this happened!

Now I'm subjected to "Mummy have you made my bean bag yet?" and "Mummy it WILL be pink wont it!"

So to show her that I hadden't forgoten her I bought a Kitschy Coo Pattern, This one in fact :) and how cool are they?!?

And look, No builders bum!! Finally something that will cover and stay on her arse!

That's it for now I think... all caught up :)

Ack

I have finished Linzis corset... But I didn't get any photos. You'll just have to take my word for it, it looked fab!

I haven't done all that much, kids have been off school, I only get 10hrs a week to myself but its amazing how much you miss that time when it's gone! I feel like I spend my days chasing tornadoes and only if I'm lucky they go in the same direction!

We went and saw Nanny and Grandad to day and I had been sent a cupcake cook book by Jas' Aunt Sally :) It's very cool and I can't wait to try some of the recipes out!

Wednesday 31 March 2010

Holy crap it worked!!

I said I was going to have a go at making a skirt with the help of House of Marmalade's awesome tut, But I didn't honestly expect it to work! But I followed the instructions on how to make the skirt block.

(Humm whats that on the side...I know I told the kids not to go near it!)

(Who says Ty need to practice his hand writing!!)

With the block done I made a muslin to check the fit.

(Got to love the white socks!)

Inspired by the whole "it fit" I decides to plan my skirt, with pockets and all sorts... You just know it's going to go horribly wrong but amazingly it didn't...I worked! first the muslin (with more white socks :( )

And finally I was ready...

Busy Busy Me :p

Ok so I haven't blogged in a few day... I have been busy :)

The kids and I made a shopping bag for Nannies birthday (I just forgot to take pictures)!

have also finished the basic structure of Linzi's corset, and she tried it on yesterday...looking good :)

While she was here we went fabric shopping...Yay! Bubbles picked some for herself and I found a nice one with skulls and roses on for me.

I want to make a skirt with it and I'm waiting for my new book, I ordered it so I could join Kitchy Coo's Sew-Along But until then I have been making a skirt block, thanks to House of Marmalade! So busy, busy me! :)

Also I may not get much done today as Flame is coming with the kids, Yay! Mine are doing the happy dance. (Well Bubbles is anyway :p)

Photo tag thingie

Ok Flame asked me to do this...

First is the 10th picture in the first folder :-

Bubbles at about 20 months, I believe she was being a Knight and protecting Geekboy from the Slugs!?!

And then the 1st picture in the tenth folder :-

This is the poppet I made for Geekboy, he named it Batboy and still nags that I haven't made the wings for it yet :p

There ya go, short and sweet...unlike Dwarves!

Bright Blessing :x

You don't need pants for the Victory Dance

But for the rest of the time they're quite nice to have :)

Thanks to the pattern I got from Here I can make my own! I have make the black and purple from this pattern but I'm still looking for the ultimate pants!

I have also made Banana bread, but it only lasted about 30 min before the kids and Jas ate it all! I went down alot better that the unintentional Dwarf bread. I, for some reason can not get it to rise and it ends up a rock! I think maybe bread making is just not my forte! I will have to stick to what I'm good at!

I'm currently working on a corset for my friend, and will post some pictures when I can. I love the colour of the fabric she choose.

On a side not I was thinking of joining Curves... I need to lose a bit of weight (or maybe just stop eating cakes and chocolate!) But the question is if I join...will I ever go or will I just be wasting money I don't have...Oh the dilemma! Ah well :)

Better late than never!

Ok so looking back I noticed that I was going to post pictures on what I'm been making So here they are.
Also I changed the background on my blog, cool isn't it!

Most recently I had to choose housework or dressmaking...guess what won... yup dressmaking hands down :p What can I say I'm no domestic Goddess! So I decided to make Bubbles the PJs I'd promised before xmas. Unfortunately she has grown since I took her measurements and I didn't think to recheck them :( It's a stupid mistake and it's going to cost me more pairs of PJs to make up for it :( As you can see she is straining at the buttons and she says it's tight at the armpits...she's still wearing it though, it's pink and has sparkly buttons :p

I will be making Geekboy's next as the's getting indignant that I made for Bubbles and not him! And who knows maybe I will post again soon :p
