Ok.. Maybe not Every day!

I may have forgot to blog yesterday, Sorry!

Today has been... fun! Half-term started early. All I managed to get done was a draft-excluder for the front door. We live in a beautiful listed 19th century building, on the south coast of England. Not as much fun as you'd think with some major storms outside!

This was super easy to make, I just cut out a large rectangle, folded it in half and sewed two sides, turned it inside out and stuffed it with fabric scraps!

Unfortunately I will have to make another one. Within 10 mins of this being down I found a small boy hugging it, I now have to make him his own.

I Promise to make more of an effort!

Hello! I don't know if anyone is still here but I'd like to come back and make more of an effort this time! I will try to post something every day and if I don't you are allowed to poke me with a big stick!

I finally got round to making J's coat, only took me 4 years. It is an Italian Wool overcoat with a silk lining, I interfaced it with hair canvas, pad stitched the collar (I will go into more detail about how that is done in another post) and added flaps to to pockets.

I tried to put the sleeves in differently this time, I took both parts of the sleeve (outer and lining) and then attached it to the outer of the coat , then attached the lining around the arm hole. Unfortunately this didn't work as planned and has caused the seam to turn the wrong way at the arm hole, I will be re-doing them as soon as I get a chance! (maybe in another 4 years ;) )

Other than that I think it turned out nicely and J seems to like it :D

OMG! Has it been that long?

Wow I have been seriously slacking in the blogging department! Sorry :( I haven't really been in the mood to blog... Lame excuse I know!

I have been busy in the sewing department though :D

First up is the maxi dress fail!

I didn't do a FBA (because I'm scared of them!) so while it fits the dress form nicely its a bit exposing on me :/ I do however love the fabric :D Not sure what to do with it now...any Ideas?

Also I made Bubbles a Tutu thanks to This tutorial from Amanda at Kitschy Coo

She loves and it's pink ~shudder~ :p

Oh and another one from Amanda was the Reversible Hoodie. I was very lucky to have been chosen to test it in the 4T size.

I love this pattern! So easy to make up and it looks soooooo cool! The only problem is I now have to make one in Geekboy size :p

Thats it for now...Geekboy wants my Comp :( Not loving this whole sharing thing! :P

Ahhh....I want them back now :(

My sewing machines have gone <sob> To be serviced! I haven't had them serviced in a very long time... But a whole week, Just seems so long. I have so many things I want to sew and my hand stitching is....not that good :(

I guess I'm knitting for a bit then.

Also need to update on all the things I have finished!

Not Pants Pants!

Ok so when Amanda from Kitschy Coo asked if anyone would be interested in testing her kids pant pattern I was just too cool to bounce on my computer chair squealing "Me, Me Oh please me!" (or not...but shhhh ;) ) Imagine my surprise when I checked my email and found the pdf, And it was Awesome! The instructions had big pictures so if your like me and don't have the patience to read all the words the pictures show you what to do!

This is what happens when you don't read important stuff like seam allowance! This all so caused a huge tantrum because Bubbles wanted to wear them to bed! She didn't care that they were cutting off the blood supply to her legs!

So while she was asleep I had another go. (or two)

She loved them! And Geekboy wanted in on the action too!

But what totally sold it to me was while Bubbles was watching TV...

Such a lady, I'm so proud!

So Geekboy wouldn't feel too left out I made him some new shorts!

How skinny is that boy!

See! I Have been busy :)

I have...honest!

I finished Claire's Corset,

and due to the serious amounts of arguing I made Bubbles beanbag,

It hasn't stopped the arguing though :(

Turns out I still had some spare time to make this,

It's not quite finished as I think I made it too big, but I wont know till Flame visits! :p

Who knows maybe I will get motivated to sort out my Sewing/dining room! Jas hates going in there!

or not! :p

Third time lucky!

Seriously! Thats how long it took me to "get" the T-shirt right! It kind of became a mission... I would not be defeated!

Before I show you my triumph, first the other disaster!

It doesn't look too bad...But it's just not quite right round the bust and armpits. I read Kid MD's blog on how she did a Full Bust Adjustment on her pattern, and I googled because I'd never heard of that before (can't you tell I'm self-taught :p )and that looked way to complicated and why didn't I just measure the front bust and the back separately, and extend the bust down to the actual bustline, then make the back separately! Clever huh! When it came to sewing it together the front was understandably longer, so I pleated it slightly! This turned out not so clever, and the armpit seam is too far back and above the bust is baggy :(

So on to attempt 3!

It Fits! It is comfortably, yes it shows my bulge bitts but what doesn't! And how, you maybe asking yourself, did I finally achieve this? I followed the instructions! I concluded that maybe, just maybe she knew better, (and I read her advice on the Design-it-Yourself Group on Flickr). And it worked, now I can make loads of T-Shirts :)

What did I learn from this? I learned that the people who write the books know more than me, and I learned that I'm not the only person who's boobs aren't up by their armpits, and I leaned that I need to lose some weight!

So... Till next time.
